EO-3 OMEGA 3 SUPPLEMENT

EO-3

Omega 3 Supplement

EO-3 is a rich source of the long chain omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA in a palatable liquid form.

EO-3 should be fed to horses of all classes and levels of work, to provide a source of beneficial long-chain omega-3 fatty acids to improve the critical omega-3 : 6 ratio in the diet.

Research conducted in both humans and animals has found that the omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA found in EO-3 have been shown to:

. Have a central role in maintenance of general health

. Aid sub-fertile stallions and mares

. Aid mares to increase colostral antibodies and passive transfer to the foal

. Have a positive effect on bone metabolism

. Aid in reducing inflammatory responses in joints. hooves and skin

. Improve vitamin E status and anti-oxidant function

. Reduce exercise induced bronchoconstriction

. Increase red cell flexibility

. Enhance immune function

Omega-3 fatty acids are found in a number of vegetable oils eg canola or linseed oil. These oils contain the short chain form, linoleic acid, which must be converted in the body to the active omega-3 forms EPA and DHA. Only fish oil provides a direct source of EPA and DHA.

EO-3 is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids provided from fish oils (cold water species), Many fish oils are not very palatable or well accepted. However, Kentucky Equine Research has addressed this issue and has specially designed and tested EO-3 for its palatability and stability.

AVAILABLE PACK SIZES: 3.785 litres

USES

. To balance the omega 3 : 6 ration of horses on high grain or low pasture diets

. To supply long chain omega 3's DHA & EPA that aren't present in vegetable oils

. For equine athletes at risk of hoof, lung & joint inflammatory disorders

. Breeding horses especially stallions

. To optimize the transfer of antibodies from mare to foal through colostrum

. For horses at risk of allergies

EQUIMED PAIN FORMULA

For many years European Veterinarians have used the combination of H.A. and Homeopathic Arnica in joints. In fresh injuries Arnica has been found to be stronger than most cortisone's. When arnica is prepared in 3 different strengths you have a very versatile product that works quickly and has lasting effects.

Equimed Pain Formula is formulated in 3 different Arnica strengths:
D6 is seen to work immediately, D30 last 3 to 5 days, D2000 lasts for 14 to 21 days.

The reason so many European vets are using Arnica is that it is an excellent anti-inflammatory and also an immune stimulant unlike Cortisone which is an immune depressant. For EMP horses, Arnica has become the treatment of choice.

INDICATION
Whilst this herb should not be taken internally as it is potentially toxic, it provides us with one of the best remedies for external local healing and may be considered a specific when it comes to the treatment of bruises and sprains. The homeopathic preparation is entirely safe to take internally especially when taken according to homeopathic directions. The herb itself, used externally, will help in the relief of rheumatic pain, the pain and inflamation of phelebitis and similar conditions. It may in fact be used wherever there is pain or inflammation on the skin, as long as the skin is not broken. Arnica has been shown to be an immuno-stimulant as both the sesquiterpene lactone helenalin and the polysaccharide fraction stimulate phagocytosis. Sesquiterpene lactones are know to have anti-inflammatory activity and their biological effects appear to be mediated through immunological processes. As helenalin is one of the most active, this might help account for the use of Arnica for pain and inflammation.

E - Gard Paste

E - Gard Paste
omeprazole 37%w/w
Heals ulcer, Restores performance
Omeprazole is a gastric acid pump inhibitor that regulates the final step in hydrogen ions production and blocks gastric acid secretion regardless of the stimulus. Omeprazole irreversibly binds to the gastric parietal cell H, K. ATPase enzyme which pumps hydrogen ions into the lumen of the stomach in exchange for potassium ions. Since omeprazole accumulates in the cell cannaliculi and is irreversibly bound to the effect site, the plasma concentration at steady state is not directly related to the amount that is bound to the enzyme.
The relationshiop between omeprazole action and plasma concentration is a function of the rate-limiting process of H, K. AT Paste activity/turnover.
Once all of the enzyme becomes bound, acid secretion resumes only after new H, K. AT Paste is synthesized in the parietal cell (i.e., the rate of new enzyme synthesis exceeds the rate of inhibition).
INDICATIONS
For treatment and prevention of recurrence of gastric ulcers in horses and foals 4 weeks of age and older.
DIRECTION FOR USE
E-Gard Paste for horses is recommended for use in horses and foals 4 weeks of age and older. The contents of one syringe will dose a 1250lb (568kg) horse at the rate of the syringe plunger will deliver sufficient omeprazole to treat 250lb (114kg) body weight. For prevention of recurrence of gastric ulcers, each weight marking will deliver sufficient omeprazole to dose 500lb (227kg) body weight.

THE HEAVE OF DESPAIR

Lower airway diseases of horses are among the most common conditions encounteres by equine veterinarians. Respiratory problems are frequently implicated in horses as a cause of poor sportive performances. The most frequently occurring lower respiratory tract disorders are heaves, inflammatory airway disease and exercise - induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH).

THE INHALED ROUTE TO FREEDOM

The characteristics of the equine airways and patterns of breathing are well suited to inhalation therapy. The horse's large tidal volume and high flow rate encourage aerosol deposition deep within the lung. Also, because the horse is an obligate nasal breather, it cannot mouth breathe to bypass an inhalation device placed on the nose.

Aerosal administration of agonist bronchodilators is advantageous because the therapeutic index is very large and the equine clinician can choose from a large dose range, tailoring therapy to individual horses.

INDICATIONS

For the immediate relief of bronchospasm and bronchoconstriction associated with reversible obstruction in horses.

COMPOSITION

Each actuation delivers

Salbutamol Sulphate BP 120mcg

Suspended in Propellant HFA - 134a q.s.

EQUIX Oral Paste

Equix ORAL PASTE

Trimethoprim 67mg + Sulfadiazine 333mg/G

The combination power to fight infections

Equix combines Trimethoprim and Sulfadiazine - one of the most widely used combination in veterinary medicine. The addition of trimethoprim to a sulfa drug forms a potentiated sulfa. The combination exhibits a greater spectrum of activity against microorganisms that cause infectious disease.

Equix can kill a variety of bacteria. An additional effect of Equix is an ability to kill or suppress certain intracellular parasites, particularly Coccidia spp. and the microorganism responsible for the disease Toxoplasmosis.

Equix Oral Paste is used to treat infections likely to be susceptible to the drug. The include:

- Respiratory Tract Infections

- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections

- Urogenital Infections

- Perioperative Infections

INDICATIONS

Equix oral paste is suitable for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to Trimethoprim and Sulfadiazine in horses. Equix Oral Paste is indicated where the control of bacterial infections is required during treatment of acute strangles, respiratory tract infections, acute urogenital infections, and wound infections and abscesses.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not administer to animals with a known sulfonamide sensitivity or with severe liver parenchymal disease.

DIRECTION FOR USE

Administer Equix Paste orally at the rate of 30mg/kg bodyweight daily (or 15mg/kg bodyweight in 2 divided doses 12 hours apart). Treatment should be continued for at least 2 days after the symptoms yhave subsided.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FIBRE
The foundation of any equine diet should be fibre, for example, grass, hay and chaff. Fibre should make up the majority of the daily feed intake, even for horses in intense training. In recent times, human influences such as stabling, high grain diets, restricted pasture availability and quality have reduced fibre intake for the modern horse. Areduction of fibre can have a negative impact on the digestive system. Therefore, the passage of feed will be affected and the bacterial population in the large intestine will become unbalanced. This can increase the risk of laminitis, acidosis, stomach ulceration and colic.
A solution to these risks is a feed that is high in fibre and energy. These types of feeds are referred to as "Super Fibres". Super Fibers are so named because they have similar energy levels to some grains but also have crude fibre levels similar to that of lucerne or grass hay (20%). This is highly beneficial to performance horses as they can maintain their energy levels without having their daily fibre intake reduced.
While "Super Fibres" contain similar amounts of energy to grains, the glycemic inded (GI) (the sugar rush) is regligible when compared to oats, for example, where the GI is 100. "Super Fibres" provide the unique benefits of high fibre and slow release energy. This reduces the fizzy behaviour associated with high grain diets.

WHY MICRBARLEY®?

Micronizing is a "Short Time, High Temperature" patented process using the grains moisture and infrared heat to achieve conditions essential for the optimal cooking of starch and starch gelatinisation. During processing the grain becomes soft and pliable, causing the reconfiguration of the starch structure (gelatinisation). Immediate flaking fully gelatinises the starches so as to significantly enhance the digestibility and nutritional value of the feed.

HYGAIN® MICRBARLEY® is readily converted and absorbed as glucose in the small intestine, providing energy more efficiently than starch fermented in the large intestine.

The small intestine is the epicentre of nutrient digestion in the horse. Vitamins, minerals, fats, protein and starch are readily absorbed in the small intestine. Research shows that feed digested in the small intestine significantly increases the rate of glucose (energy) absorption. The starch in HYGAIN® MICRBARLEY® is over 95% digested in the horse's small intestine where as the starch in whole or steam flaked barley is only 20-30% digested. The remaining starch is then fermented in the large intestine, this in turn increases the burden on the large intestine producing elevated levels of lactic acid, gas and heat. Using HYGAIN® MICRBARLEY® transfers the site of digestion back to the small intestine.

FEEDING GUIDE
. Introduce MICRBARLEY® to your horse's diet gradually over a 7 -14 day period.

. Feed horses little and often. No more than 2kg of MICRBARLEY® should be fed at any one time.

. Avoid over feeding as this may impact on the digestive system.

. Feed by weight and not by volume.

. Ensure horses have access to clean drinking water at all times.

. Ensure horses have access to quality roughage.

.During summer months horses may require supplementation of an electrolyte such as HYGAIN® REGAIN®.

. 1kg of whole or steamed flaked barley can be replaced with approximately 750grams of HYGAIN® MICRBARLEY®.

. HYGAIN® MICRBARLEY® should be fed with roughage and can be mixed with other grains to meet nutrient requirements.

Respeze Clenbuterol

CLENBUTEROL is a adrenergic agonist. Its higly selective, direct mode of action relieves bronchospasm by causing the bronchial muscles to relax from their constricted state.

Throughout history, equine respiratory disease has limited the performance of horses and frustrated their owners. Because horses are active, athletic animlals, they need to be as physically fit and healthy as possible in order to perform to their full potential. This requires that their respiratory system be as effective as possible.

Even when the signs of disease are not obvious, respiratory disease can adversely affect your horse. It is essential to treat respiratory disease early. If respiratory disease is neglected, chronic changes in the airways may permanently and adversely affect your horses ability to breathe normally.

CLENBUTEROL main action is to relax airway smooth muscle, but it also improves the clearance of mucus by the ciliary escalator. Relaxation of smooth muscle and improved clearance of mucus and other secretions relieves airways obstruction and makes breathing easier.

CLENBUTEROL relieves reversible bronchospasm caused by respiratory condition such as:

. Allergy-induced respiratory distress
. Small airway disease (SAD)
. Heaves or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS:
EACH ML CONTAINS

Clenbuterol hydrochloride BP 40ug

DOSSAGE

For best results give paste at least 30 minutes prior to feeding. Clenbuterol is well absorbed after oral administration, providing up to 12 hours duration of action.
Use twice daily to maintain a continuous beneficial effect. In chronic condition, lower dose treatment is recommended to provide a long term clinical effect.

ACUTE CONDITIONS
2ml/100kg body weight morning and night for 7 - 10 days

CHRONIC CONDITIONS
1 - 1.5ml/100kg body weight morning and night as required to provide long term control of symptoms

Equi-Jewel

High-Fat Stabilised Rice Bran with Calcium, Vitamin E and Selenium

Alternative sources of energy, such as rice bran, are now more popular than ever. Equi-Jewel, a high-fat stabilised rice bran supplement, increases the energy density of a ration, thereby decreasing the amount of grain necessary to fulfill energy requirements of horses during growth, lactation or athletic performance. Addition of Equi-Jewel to a ration can reduce the risk of founder, colic, diarrhoea and exertional myopathies often associated with excessive grain and minimal forage intake.

Equi-Jewel contains a balanced calcium to phosphorus ration. In its natural state, rice bran is richer in phosphorus than in calcium.

Excessive phosphorus in the diet inhibits calcium absorption, which may compromise skeletal integrity or induce developmental orthopaedic disease. Inclusion of calsium carbonate ensures a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio in the diet of a horse, and can be used as a calcium supplement.

To achieve superior coat condition, Equi-Jewel can be suppplemented to horses of all ages. Equi-Jewel is a highly digestible and higly palatable source of unsaturated fat for horses. Fats are composed of glycerol and essential fatty acids, elements linked to elastic skin and glossy hair coats.

BENEFITS:

. Provides fatty acids essential for healthy skin and hair

. Improves and maintains condition on poor doers and picky eaters

. Enhances palatability and convenience compared to oil

. Delivers low starch and low glycemic index for horses prone to tying up and

behavioural problems

. Stabilised to protect nutritional value and retain freshness

. Adds calories to a ration without excessive grain intake

. Supplies a highly palatable and digestible form of fat

. Contains balanced ratio of calcium to phosphorus

Equivit B-QUIET

A supplemental source of Thiamine (Vitamin B1) to help calm nervous, hot or highly strung horses where bahaviour is related to thiamine deficiency.

Many horses are difficult to handle and do not fulfill their full potential as a resulf of spookiness or nervousness.

A deficiency of thiamine has been shown in several species to lead to nervous behaviour. B-QUIET provides concentrated levels of thiamine to treat the symptoms of thiamine deficiency, including hyper-irritability and nervousness in horses. Thiamine plays an important role in carbohydrate metabolism and nerve transmission. Thiamine deficiency can sometimes be caused by grazing on bracken fern.

B-QUIET is also useful for horses on high grain intakes and in heavy training, to aid energy utilisation and promote appetite. In these horses, production of thiamine by intestinal bacteria may be reduced by stress and hind gut acidosis.

USES:

. Excitable and highly strung horses

. Horses that are poor travellers and nervous away from home

. Horses that are nervous, and prone to tie up

. Mares who become irritable when in season

. Horses "heated up" by grain

. Instead of injectible Vitamin B1

ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS:

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) 1,000mg - 33,333mg

AVAILABLE PACK SIZES: 600g (trial pack), 1kg and 4kg

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

For nervous horses, and other horses showing signs of thiamine deficiency, use 30g per day mixed in the feed for as long as signs persist. Feed 30g per day mixed in feed to horses on high grain intakes in heavy training. Double doses may be given for 2 days prior to a show competition or racing to enhance the calming effect.

1 heaped scoop = 30g

Other feeding managements practices to reduce nervous behaviour should also be used. Match energy intake with body condition and workload. This includes the use of high fat supplements such as KER EQUI-JEWEL or "cool" prepared feeds. If further supplementation with high levels of other B vitamins is needed, EQUIVIT HEMABUILD can be used.
